Molly Martini

Cohort 1 Representative

My name is Molly Martini, and I am running for Cohort 1’s 1L Cohort Representative. Growing up in the Cincinnati Metropolitan area, and having experienced it through my U.C. Alumni family members, I have always had an appreciation for the unique culture that U.C. students foster. As the Donald P. Klekamp College of Law continues to grow, it is more important now than ever to invest in effective leadership with a personal drive to represent the interests of the students. I am confident in my ability to serve as an efficient and professional delegate in a collaborative manner following my experience as Vice President of Harms Reduction for Sigma Sigma Sigma at Auburn University. I was privileged to represent seven chairwoman and $30,000 in budget allocation for event planning/management for chapter operations. Following that role, I was selected as a re-charter member for the Order of Omega, which brought together exceptional leadership from Panhellenic, IFC, NPHC, and D9 student organizations. As a re-charter member, I represented the interests of my chapter as well as aided in developing the tone and culture of this returning student organization. As for my character; if you see me in the atrium, you know that there’s always an open seat at my table (yes, we can scoot in to fit you). If you haven’t seen me, then you’ve probably heard me during lunch hour. I’ve never been blessed with a softspoken voice. As we navigate the whirlwind of content and work that characterizes the typical first year, I am committed to accurate and frequent communication with my cohort so that we may remain informed of SBA proceedings and how it effects the student life at Donald P. Klekamp College of Law. Furthermore, I am committed to being accessible and open to feedback (both positive and negative) so that the SBA remains knowledgeable of the concerns of its students and may adjust policy as needed. Most importantly, I am ready to do my part in maintaining the excellent culture that we have been invited to participate in as first year law students.

Cohort 1 Representative

I am running for 1L Representative for Cohort 1 because I know our class can rely on me. In the midst of the chaos that is 1L, I believe our cohort needs a leader and a voice that they know will represent them at all times. I have shown a history of approachability, and I am always willing to listen. I will bring a community-first approach with me throughout my term. I will make every effort to hear concerns from my peers and bring ideas to SBA. I know the value of keeping people informed, and I will make sure to keep that my number one priority in this position. While I might not be able to solve every problem thrown at me, I promise I will never back down from one. I promise to communicate and to represent my cohort as they deserve. I hope I can earn your vote for 1L Rep for Cohort 1.
Isabella Francis

Cohort 2 Representative

My name is Isabella Francis. I am currently a 1L and proudly a member of Cohort 2! I am honored to have received so much support from my classmates so I can run for 1L Representative for the Student Bar Association, representing Cohort 2. Seeing what the Student Bar Association has provided students with was one of the many reasons I decided to run. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to serve as the Superintendent of Education at my church. This position radically changed how I approach leadership and support. Instead of pushing agendas without thought, the position forced me to take a step back and understand what individuals needed from the program. This shapes my leadership style and moves me to provide support that actually helps. As a 1L Representative, I will be willing to have the sometimes-difficult conversations with individuals and groups to ensure the experience here at school and beyond is the best it can be. And that starts, above all, with your needs. When I know what my cohort and colleagues need, you can be sure I will do everything in my power to make it happen. It has always been my belief that with honest dialogue and good faith, real change can happen. Let us keep moving forward. We are on an overwhelming journey, but luckily, we face it together.
Chloe Kilguss

Cohort 2 Representative

My name is Chloe Kilguss, and I am excited to be running for Student Bar Association 1L Representative for Cohort 2. With this position, I hope to cultivate a community in which we support each other in our endeavors, inside and outside of the classroom. Being a law student does not stop once you leave the building or even when you finish your readings, and I hope to find ways to support my cohort in their journey through, at least, their first year. Being a native who went to UC for undergrad and worked for a few years in the legal community, I am confident in my abilities to help others find their own community and interest here, whether that is a restaurant recommendation or a networking opportunity. I am eager to see what our 1L year holds and thank you for this opportunity.
Abbey Armstrong

Cohort 3 Representative

Hi Cohort 3! I am running to be your 1L Representative because I want you to have the best experience possible at Klekamp Law! To me, being a 1L rep means putting myself in the shoes of each cohort member, identifying their interests and concerns, and doing what I can to help them achieve their goals. I’m here to root for you. I’m here to fight for you. And most importantly, I’m here to support you. I pride myself on being friendly, dependable, and optimistic. If you have a concern, I’m ready to listen and take action. If you need someone to lean on, I’ll lend a hand and an ear. If you just need to vent about a botched cold call (been there, done that), I’m here for you. In my eyes, law school is not an individual pursuit. We are here today because there were people in our corners cheering us on every step of the way. I want to replicate that feeling by cultivating a culture of support through my actions both inside and outside of the classroom. My time as a mascot (very random, I know) taught me to be someone who, no matter the circumstances, can look on the bright side. Yes, law school is going to suck sometimes, but by leaning on each other and forging lasting relationships, we can make the not-so-fun moments a little bit better. I would be honored and delighted to bring Cohort 3’s unique voice to SBA while also bringing SBA resources, opportunities, and information back to us! I hope I can be someone you can count on throughout our 1L year!
McKenna Dowell

Cohort 3 Representative

Hi Cohort 3! My name is McKenna Dowell, and I am running to serve as our 1L Representative. Before coming to UC Law, I served as Student Body President at the University of Kentucky, where I represented more than 38,000 students and worked directly with students and administrators on issues involving student resources, campus safety, affordability, and engagement. I am especially proud of helping raise the minimum wage for on-campus student employees and overseeing the largest allocation of funding to student organizations in University history. My previous leadership experiences taught me how to listen to students, advocate effectively, and turn ideas into tangible results. If elected, I would take the responsibility of representing Cohort 3 seriously, while also bringing the social and personable side of who I am to the role. I am very Type A, love a good plan, and take follow-through seriously, so if I say I am going to do something, it will get done. But I also love bringing people together and making things fun. I would love to plan monthly cohort events: happy hours, trivia, pickleball, workout classes, or whatever our cohort is interested in, so we have more opportunities to step away from the casebooks and actually enjoy law school together. And as a former Division I athlete who is just a tad bit competitive, I am already looking forward to the bonding and win Cohort 3 is going to take home at Cohort Olympics. Overall, my goal is to be someone you can count on to advocate for our cohort and get things done, while also helping make Cohort 3 a fun, connected community to be part of. Emersen Kolb

Cohort 5 Representative

Hi, Cohort 5! I am Emersen Kolb and I am very excited to run for the position of 1L representative from our cohort to our Student Bar Association. I chose to attend the University of Cincinnati because of its reputation for community. Even during our first weeks here, I haven’t stopped hearing our classmates remarking, “Everyone’s so nice!” As your 1L representative, I will continue fostering community in our cohort and our class; I want to plan social events, use the voice of our cohort to support SBA initiatives that prioritize connection, and stay friendly and approachable to anyone who has a suggestion or a concern. There is nothing I love more in the world than making new friends and talking to new people. I think there’s no better way to do that than helping the new friends I’ve made and the new people I’ve met here to get the things that matter to them represented in our student government. If I am fortunate enough to be elected as your representative, I will draw on the experiences I have from the executive board of my undergraduate institution’s mock trial team as well as my involvement in residence life to make our lives as easy as possible as we navigate the beginning of law school together. I know there’s no better leader than one who is willing to do the work while still keeping things lighthearted. I want to make sure that our cohort is getting all the free food and access to all the social events, but I also want to make sure no one feels like they have to worry about what is going on in SBA meetings. I want to be the type of representative where everyone feels like they can talk to me, but no one feels like they have to. Baylie Souders

Cohort 5 Representative

Hello! My name is Baylie Souders, and I’m running to be Cohort 5’s 1L Rep. I’ve never run for a position like this before, but I think that speaks to how excited I am about the opportunity. Everything I’ve learned about being a 1L rep only made me more interested in the position. While the responsibilities for 1L reps may be relatively light, I see that as an opportunity to focus on them and make sure I do them well. I’m especially excited to help plan Fall Fest and find ways to make it something our class looks forward to. I’m looking forward to becoming involved, getting to know more of my classmates, and making our 1L year a positive experience.

Transfer Representative

I am seeking the opportunity to represent my section on the Student Bar Association because I believe meaningful collaboration between students and faculty is essential to strengthening our academic experience. As a former LL.M. student from Colombia in the double degree program, who recently transferred to the JD Program this Fall, I understand both the opportunities and the challenges of navigating a rigorous legal education, and I want to ensure that those in similar situations feel supported and empowered to make the most of this experience. My background has prepared me well for this role. Serving as school president in high school gave me early experience in leadership, responsibility, and advocacy, skills that I have continued to strengthen throughout my academic and professional journey. I pride myself on being an effective communicator, a collaborative leader, and an open-minded listener; qualities I consider essential for representing diverse perspectives and building consensus. If elected, I will make it a priority to actively engage with classmates to understand their concerns, share them with transparency, and work constructively with faculty to identify solutions. I hope to create an environment where every student feels heard and where our collective feedback contributes to a stronger and more enriching program for all. I would be honored to represent my section and to contribute to the shared mission of improving the quality, inclusivity, and overall impact of our education at the College of Law.
Grayson Jones

Transfer Representative

Transferring to a new law school requires more than adjusting to a different academic environment. It means finding your place in an established community while navigating challenges that other students may not experience. I am running for Transfer Representative because those challenges deserve meaningful attention and effective representation. If elected, I will be a strong and accessible advocate who listens to fellow transfer students, raises their concerns, and follows through until they are addressed.

FAQs

A proficient representative fulfills their obligation by being approachable, valuing the concerns of all students, representing the interest of their class and/or section, informing and maintaining communication with both the students they represent and the Executive Council/SLEC, and by being a respectful and positive reflection of the Student Bar Association/SLEC and the College of Law.
SBA: All representatives serve on the Executive Council and have a vote at all General Council meetings. Representatives will also have an opportunity to serve on at least one of the standing committees, including the Constitution and Rules Committee, Philanthropy Committee, Barristers’ Ball Committee, Social Committee, Social Media Committee, Alumni Committee, and the Networking Committee.
SLEC: All representatives serve on the SLEC and a faculty committee.
SBA: One year. You will have to run for any additional position.
SLEC: Three year term.
