1L Cohort Representative &
LLM/Transfer Representative Elections
Every fall, each 1L Cohort and the LLM Cohort elects one SBA Representative and one SLEC Representative.
Elections Procedure
To be a considered as a candidate for either SBA or SLEC, you must complete a petition and a candidate statement.
Students looking to be a 1L Representative must obtain 25 signatures for SBA and 20 signatures for SLEC on the signature sheet from other 1L students. Once completed, fill out this form and include your completed petition, candidate statement, and a headshot. Once you have submitted this form, email Mofe Koya (koyama@mail.uc.edu) and Maya Huffman (huffmam3@mail.uc.edu). All of this shall be completed by September 8th at 5:00 PM.
While anyone in the 1L class can sign your petition, you will be elected solely by the members of your section. If you get the requisite signatures and complete the candidate statement form, the Elections Commissioner will put your name on your section's ballot. The statements will also be posted here on the SBA website.

Voting will take place electronically via ElectionBuddy, and your respective sections will vote between September 11th at 8:00 AM until September 12th at 5:00PM. You will receive an email with instructions for voting procedures at that time.

A proficient representative fulfills their obligation by being approachable, valuing the concerns of all students, representing the interest of their class and/or section, informing and maintaining communication with both the students they represent and the Executive Council/SLEC, and by being a respectful and positive reflection of the Student Bar Association/SLEC and the College of Law.

SBA: All representatives serve on the Executive Council and have a vote at all General Council meetings. Representatives will also have an opportunity to serve on at least one of the standing committees, including the Constitution and Rules Committee, Philanthropy Committee, Hooding Committee, Barristers’ Ball Committee, Social Committee, Social Media Committee, Community Committee, and the Networking Committee.
SLEC: SBA: All representatives serve on the SLEC and a faculty committee.

SBA: One year. You will have to run for any additional position.
SLEC: Three year term.
